Something To Say

I don't know if many of you know, but my father is a lawyer representing many families in Ohio right now against whirlpool. Many children have been diagnosed with cancer near a whirlpool dumping site and my father has been working non stop to find an answer for these families. Upon reading an article where whirlpool accuses my dad of leading these families astray with false information.

You can read the article here:

While I understand that law is a dog eat dog world, I cannot express how angry this made me. There is not a statement more false. My father has given up money, time with his own family, and his own physical (and emotional) health for those families. His own home town is very close to the area as well. I don't even live with my family right now and I know the commitment my father gives to each and every one of his cases, especially this one.

Of course my father has been accused of many things that are completely false, but I couldn't let this one slide by. While I know not many people who are concerned with this case will read this, I had to say something.

Not only has my father given up so much just to bring justice for this family, he has done it so many times before. He is in the Top 100 Trial Lawyers of The American Trial Lawyers, is a platinum member of the The Verdict Club for Premier Trial Lawyers and is a member the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum for having both verdicts and settlements in the EIGHT( yes, thats in the 10,000,000 range ) figure range. He was the lead attorney in the Crandall Canyon Mine Disaster, where several Spanish speaking families only had a voice because of my father. He was also the lead attorney in the Guatemalan Air Disaster, where several service missionaries from Utah, Illinois and Guatemala were killed and injured in a defective airplane.

I have witnessed first hand how much hope and peace my father has brought these families. It's not an ordinary man who can divulge himself in so much loss and grief and violence and death and come out strong, with only a desire to help. My father does not enjoy this, trust me. He does not selfishly find ways to cheat others for money. He does not view cases as cash, but as people who need help.

People often describe lawyers as sharks. You hear lawyer jokes all the time about lawyers being greedy and harsh and downright evil. Never ONCE in my life have I felt this way about my father, and I've been a teenage girl. EVERY teenage girl thinks of her parents as harsh or evil once in there lives, but not me. My father, to me, is one of the kindest men I've ever met. I'm so lucky to have been given a chance to witness that first hand. While he might always be home, I also know that he's somewhere helping a family that isn't as fortunate as ours. And while I might miss him constantly, I'm filled with pride when I think of the sacrifices he makes.

Whether or not whirlpool is to blame for these unfortunate circumstances, I know my father has pretty much risked everything to find answers. I don't look up to anyone more than my father, because he is the most selfless, giving, and devoted person I know. The only one who could battle this is maybe my mother.

In the coming findings in the case, and hopefully answers for these families, I pray that my fathers dedication pays off and people can recognize his pure heart and strong will.
