Doctor Who

Let's get one thing straight: I am a nerd. Always have, always will be. Despite the world's best efforts, I'm an awkward girl. I prefer books to dates. I like to having Star Wars marathons on my saturdays alone in my room rather than go tan on the beach. I pin Harry Potter quotes on Pinterest rather than clothes. I'd rather watch the British version of Sherlock than the United States. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT: Doctor Who is pretty much my life.

It's sort of like some girls with boys. If someone wants to talk about boys, girls are all over that. If someone mentions Doctor Who to me, I start crying and have a panic attack. I sound like I'm being overdramatic, but this show is like a trigger for me. I spend to much time dwelling on it, I go to a loony place.

It sounds like its a bad influence on me, but it's not like that at all. It's sort of like I'm two different people. There is the functioning, normal, boring Brooke, and then there is the Smeagol me: obsessive, emotional, and sort of creepy. Doctor Who is my precious.

Alright, I should give you a short history of Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a British science fiction TV show on the BBC (British Broadcasting Company), and can be watched in the US on BBCAmerica. The show is about The Doctor and his companions. The Doctor is a Time Lord - a time traveling alien who looks like a human. He travels throughout space and time facing foes such as the Daleks, the Cybermen, and other various alien races.

The show originally aired in 1963, ran for 26 seasons, and then ended. Then, in 2005, producer Russell T. Davies revived it, and since then has 7 series (seasons). Because of it's long history, the Doctor has been played by 11 different actors. As a Time Lord, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate his body when near death. The most recent Doctor, Matt Smith, has announced he is leaving and casting for the 12th Doctor is currently being held.

Alright, enough of that. I was introduced to Doctor Who last year, and ever since then I've been hooked. My personal favorite Doctor is David Tennant, who played the 10th Doctor, often just referred to as Ten by Doctor Who fans. David Tennant is Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter, look him up. Anyways, the thing is, I read over what I've written and it doesn't even cover Doctor Who. It sounds completely different.

So here is a proper description: A lovable but lonely time traveler breaks your heart bit by bit but still finds time for you to fall in love with him all the same. He turns into your brother, your best friend, your crush, your love, your worst enemy, and a complete stranger.

You might think I'm crazy, how much I love this stupid show. But it's sort of like when you meet a friend of a friend. The way your friend describes them, they sound not really "you", and you don't have much of an interest. But once you get to know them, you can't remember what your life was like without them.
